Tony Hawk himself dropped the 411 on what fans can expect on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5.
In contrast to Tony Hawk Ride, Robomondo’s latest skating game is going back to the game’s roots. The original controls will be returning, for the benefit of veteran players. There will be considerably less freestyle tricks, but instead, Hawk has opted for more representation of different kinds of skating styles. As the interviewer notes, the world of skateboarding itself has changed, and they have adjusted for this change appropriately. They have also added new options, powerups, projectiles and more.
The stages will be bigger, although true to form, you will be starting out with only a few courses to play around in.
As Hawk mentioned before, he hoped to wait for when the 8th generation of consoles was well underway before attempting to bring the franchise back. Nonetheless, the game is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on top of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The emphasis is on online play, and Hawk says it will be like Call of Duty in that regard. You will be able to do things like start challenges, invite people in to play with you, and so forth. Hawk promises as many as eight people playing together, so the stages will need to really be big.
One aspect that didn’t get as much attention was character customization. You will be able to customize the playable characters but not make a CAW. Aside from Tony himself, you will be able to play his son Riley Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, Lizzie Armanto, Leticia Bufoni, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Ishod Wair and Andrew Reynolds.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is planned for release on 2015.
