Star Wars: Battlefront is a reboot of the original series. It's being developed by DICE and published by Activision, so there's a near guarantee that the title will be quality. DICE has experience with these large scale multiplayer battle titles, as they've been the driving force behind recent iterations into the Battlefield franchise.
However, in a recent statement made by DICE executive producer Patrick Bach, a worrisome revelation was made concerning Battlefront: there won't be any iron sights in the game.
"There are no ironsights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters," Bach said. "You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights."
We're happy to know that the title will feature scopes and such, though that was probably a given, even with the iron sights news.
"We’re not taking into account what we’ve done before," Bach said regarding the studio's other major shooter, Battlefield. "I think that would be disrespectful to the fans, and to what we’re trying to achieve here. A lot of the things you saw in the game have nothing to do with anything we’ve done before. Some features of course resemble [our other shooters], because we want to make the best possible shooter, but in general we’ve tried to do something completely unique."
In many ways, developer DICE is looking to seperate what they've done and what they're doing. While Battlefield is a strong franchise, many Battlefront fans probably don't want any of its features pushed onto the upcoming Star Wars based franchise.
Star Wars: Battlefront will be released in in November 2015 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
