Wasteland 2 was one of the games that came as a result of Kickstarter's wave of popularity back in 2013. It arrived alongside titles such as Broken Age and various others that would not have been possible without the support of crowdfunding.
While the Kickstarter frenzy might have died down, Wasteland 2 developer InXile Entertainment still feels the overwhelming gratitude. They've devised a Game of the Year edition for Wasteland 2 and are planning on releasing it later this year. The revamped version will be releasing in late summer, bringing with it a host of different features and graphical upgrades. Furthermore, there will be improvements to gameplay, made by taking the best fan suggestions and feedback.
What's the best part about all of this? The new edition of Wasteland 2 will be free to everybody who currently owns the existing version of the game. InXile Entertainment published this message alongside the news:
“We wanted to re-affirm our gratitude to our backers and our dedication to RPG fans, as we have been most fortunate to return to our roots. We plan to continue our proud tradition with Bard’s Tale IV, which we’ll crowdfund later this year.”
Good on you, InXile Entertainment.
