Sony has announced that it will not be hosting a press conference at gamescom this year.
The platform holder told VideoGamer that it be holding an "international media briefing" during Paris Games Week in October.
"We're delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on 27th October," Sony Computer Entertainment commented.
"With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming. We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time."
Sony has hosted a gamescom media briefing each year since the event began in 2009. The company has used past gamescom press conferences to announced revised PS3 models, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, and the PS4 versions of Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, and Rayman creator Michel Ancel's survival game WiLD.
The platform holder launched its own event, the PlayStation Experience, in December, 2014. E3 takes place slightly later than usual this year, officially starting on June 16th while gamescom occurs one week earlier than 2014's show on August 5th.
