We have some new details for Call of Duty Black Ops 3, courtesy of a recent recap by Petey for Charlie Intel. You can subscribe to his YouTube channel here.
Please note this is based on the Charlie Intel team’s observations playing a very early build. All of these may be subject to change in the final product, but if you want to know the latest about the game, this is what you can learn now.
For Perks, Dead Silence and Scavenger are returning. Toughness is not returning. As for Lightweight, it is not clear quite yet if Treyarch is leaning one way or the other.
The Charlie Intel team opine that Black Ops 3 has better movement than its predecessor, Advanced Warfare. Unlike Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 is not reliant on powered up movement systems. So, there are parts of the map where you can use your special abilities, like wall running and your powered jump, but there are also paths laid out if you choose not to use them.
This makes it so that your superpower Black Ops abilities are not necessities you have to master to get through the game, but instead augment your own abilities. So, if you want to get through a map faster, perhaps after playing through it, than you can use your abilities to do so.
There are four maps right now, and they have been well-designed. They’re easy to memorize, and reward smart play. Notably, spawn areas do not change, but they are also hard to flip. Treyarch invested in matching map design with the new movement system, taking a year on just one map.
Killstreaks are worth the effort to earn, and will destroy your enemies off the map. Treyarch lowered streaks for press after YouTubers played, and they may do similar tweaks for all players in the final game.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3will be releasing on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6.
