MSI is helping Microsoft in hyping up the pending release of DirectX 12. Along the way, they make some interesting assertions.
MSI claims that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman Arkham Knight will both be shipping with DirectX 12 support. Here’s the exact wording from their blog post:
We already know that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman Arkham Knight will be releasing on May 19 and June 23, respectively. AMD CEO Lisa Su also made the claim that Windows 10 would be releasing late July, clearly a few weeks after both games have released.
MSI also brought up Fable Legends, but of course DirectX 12 support on a Microsoft game would be no surprise.
The real story here, of course, is MSI’s assertion contradicts CD Projekt RED’s prior statement that their game will not have DirectX 12 support at launch, and that it will be added in later. However, MSI may not be referring to custom optimizations for the API by CD Projekt RED. Instead, they may simply be referring to performance improvements that DirectX 12 carries in general, that will subsequently be felt in many, if not most games.
In other words, MSI may simply be saying whatever game you are playing, DirectX 12 is sure to improve your PC’s performance. After all, Microsoft is claiming a framerate boost to as much as 60 %.
Of course, if MSI is just guessing and this turns out to not be the case, they can always be compelled by CPR to take it back anytime.
