Star Wars Battlefront will be the first game from DICE in ages to not use the developer's Battlelog matchmaking suite.
Ahead of its big reveal on Friday, rumors and speculation sprouted up on online forums like NeoGAF where players jumped to the conclusion that the upcoming Star Wars-themed first-person shooter will utilize the Battlelog system previously seen in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. Fans speculated that the upcoming game would have its own version of Battlelog developed by Uprise.
The game's assistant producer Jesper Nielsen was quick to debunk that line of speculation, stating simply that while Uprise is contributing to the development of Star Wars Battlefront, they aren't working on Battlelog.
“The Uprise website mentions that Uprise is working on Star Wars Battlefront. While Uprise has been doing Battlelog, does that automatically mean that we will do Battlelog for Star Wars Battlefront?” he said.
“No, it won’t. That can only be an assumption, and I can tell you, no, there won’t be Battlelog for Star Wars Battlefront.”
Star Wars Battlefront's release date was revealed a few hours ago. More details about the game are coming on the weekend.
