Splatoon’s release is inching ever closer. EAD has recently shared new previews of new weapons, and a blingified gun to go with a snazzy Inkling outfit.
Let’s get the bling outfit out of the way. Fans went gaga when this female Inkling wearing a school uniform first appeared. However, when you get the fanboy appeal out of the way, you have to wonder if Inklings do go to school when they’re not shooting Octolings or each other. The Splatoon US tumblr account makes no mention of this, but it does direct attention to something else: the Inkling’s gun has been heavily blinigified, with attention paid to having the gun’s encrusted gems match her hair, tie, and skirt colors. It seems heavily implied this is one of the more advanced outfits you will have to earn.
EAD previewed another goofy weapon on Twitter, the Squeaklean Alpha. The Alpha appears to be a repurposed detergent bottle, hence the name, but functionally speaking, this is the game’s equivalent of a sawed off shotgun. It’s smaller ink compression tank means it recharges quickly, and it has the power and spread of a shotgun, with a little more range to boot. You can watch the Squeaklean Alpha in action below.
Finally, the Splatoon US account shared another strange pic of the game’s antagonists, the Octarian. This time, we have the Octodiver, that can dive into Octarian ink and wait to pounce on you. Of course, the snorkel hints at their ability, but they don’t actually need it.
Splatoon is releasing exclusively to the Wii U in Japan on May 28, and in the US and Europe on May 29.
