Respawn’s Abbie Heppe shares upbeat news for Titanfall fans, as she implies a sequel with a story campaign and more weapons are not off the table.
Talking with the EXL Podcast, Abbie refused to go on record confirming any of these things. However, what she did say was that Respawn was listening to fans regarding things like this, and that they are looking at Titanfall as the foundation of something they could build upon.
Now, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella has confirmed before that a multiplatform sequel is actually already in the works, but did not confirm any other information.
Titanfall had a solid launch, with EA COO Peter Moore reporting to investors in March 2014 that the game sold 925,000 copies in the US in its first month. However, since May 2014, EA had declined to divulge further sales figures for the game, a move that led many to speculate it did not perform to the expectations the publisher wanted.
Titanfall was also received well critically, with over 60 awards for its reveal alone and multiple positive reviews. However, these gave way to criticisms that the game seemed lacking for not having a single player campaign, and the perceived lack of content relative to price.
While the first Titanfall released on Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, the next game could come to platforms like the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
