Nintendo of America has finally confirmed what several sites tried to make a forgery out of: A Nintendo Direct is coming tomorrow, on April 1.
You may hear something about a #NintendoDirect this week.

The Direct will be about upcoming Wii U and 3DS games, and will be followed immediately after by a Nintendo Treehouse presentation featuring on of their spring releases. As Nintendo says, don’t let the date fool you as this Direct is no joke. Nintendo of Europe have also confirmed their Direct.

Nintendo did not name any games outright, but without speculating too wildly, we can verify some things they will be covering in the Direct.
Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that Mewtwo is ready to release as DLC for Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U. He said an announcement was coming soon, and this is likely that date.
Splatoon is the number one candidate for the upcoming Spring release that the Nintendo Treehouse will be previewing after the Direct. It is the first original IP to come out of EAD for some time, and the first first person shooter since Metroid Prime.
Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker, Devil’s Third, and Starfox Wii U are all also upcoming Wii U games without solid release dates, but expected to release in 2015. Any of these games could be revealed in the Direct. On a personal note, I suspect that Nintendo is looking to keep promotion of Splatoon and Devil’s Third as far apart from each other as possible.
While 2015 seems to be a Wii U year, 3DS also has some upcoming games, namely, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Puzzle and Dragons Z / Puzzle and Dragons Mario Edition. These are getting released soon, and it seems unlikely Nintendo won’t have another game planned for the portable this holiday.
While they already announced otherwise, it is possible that we will still hear about Zelda Wii U in the Direct, at least to clear up the air about the delay further. And then there are multiple wild cards, such as an official Pokken announcement for Wii U, QOL, NX, DeNA, et al.
