Borderlands: The Handsome Collection released just a couple of days ago, featuring revamped versions of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The games have released in a hugely competitive environment, alongside Sony's flagship Bloodborne.
All of this said, one thing is missing from the Handsome Collection: the original Borderlands. Randy Pitchford is currently the CEO and president of Borderlands developer Gearbox Software. He recently made a statement regarding Borderlands' absence from the Handsome Collection and what can be done about it:
“The fact that The Handsome Collection has Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 means there’s still that original game that isn’t on next-gen yet,” and continued on Major Nelson Radio podcast “If this is successful, I’m sure the folks at 2K, the people that care about publishing and figure out how to get content in customers’ hands if customers want it, will be noticing that. And I’d love to have those conversations about how to bring Borderlands 1 to next-gen.”
It appears that Gearbox will bring Borderlands to the current-generation if the Handsome Collection is successful enough. Would you play the original Borderlands again on current-generation technology? Let us know in the comments section below!
