Famitsu DS and Wii seem to have a blockbuster announcement coming up, and at least one source believes that it could be Dragon Quest XI.
In fact, Dragon Quest XI is apparently already in development, although no platforms have been revealed. Considering the news source is a Nintendo dedicated magazine, it’s likely that it’s coming to a Nintendo platform.
Our source believes the Famitsu DS and Wii reveal (the issue hits stores April 20 or 21) could have a connection with the coming Level-5 Vision 2015 event. Level-5 worked on Dragon Quest IX, and both Square Enix and Level-5 have done well publishing games on Nintendo platforms, even recently, with Bravely Default and Yokai Watch.
Dragon Quest X was an early hit on Wii but notoriously bombed on Wii U, creating frustration among even the most hardcore Dragon Quest fans. The game was later ported on PC and 3DS (via cloud streaming), and it was on 3DS that the game surprisingly rebounded. While the most recent Dragon Quest game, Dragon Quest Heroes, ended up on PlayStation 4, that was a spinoff licensed by Square to Tecmo Koei.
