Bloodborne is being developed by the illustrious From Software, minds behind the Dark Souls franchise. As it turns out, Bloodborne is going to be quite a bit different from the popular Souls series, but we're hoping it still reaches huge levels of success. The considerable floundering of PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 last month has left Sony in an awkward spot. They need Bloodborne to pull the PS4 chariot into 2015 very quickly, or they will lose consumers' faith.
We believe Bloodborne will do quite well with both critics and sales numbers, but some interesting news has come to light: Bloodborne will have only one shield in its entire game world. The "Wooden Shield" given to players at the start of the game will be the only defensive tool available. After that, you've got to rely on quick dodges or long-range weaponry such as guns. The Wooden Shield could be looked at as a form of training wheel, getting players through the early dangers of Bloodborne.
This news further differentiates Bloodborne from the Souls series. Bloodborne was originally thought to be a spiritual successor to the latter, but has been making a name for itself in some unique ways.
