Blizzard has revealed that the beta for Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void is coming up very soon.
Blizzard has attempted to set expectations on the beta, explaining that they would have it open longer and earlier than gamers expect. Subsequently, fans can expect a rougher game than Heart of the Swarm, and anyone participating is expected to share a lot of feedback. The following changes below, again, are in the service of the beta can be changed in the final product.
Resources have been reduced, with mineral patches either having 750 or 1500 minerals. This is to compel more aggressive play. Subsequently, you start with 12 units to reduce downtime. Ranged units also have better target acquisition, just to test if it creates any bugs.
Blizzard acquiesced to fan requests and slowed down the clock from Heart of the Swarm, matching up to real time. Of course, if you’ve been playing the game this whole time, you’ll need to adjust to all the subsequent changes, but apparently the demand to change this was that huge.
They have also detailed changes to individual units, which you can read in full from here.
Blizzard is expected to release Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void this year on Windows and Mac. They have been sending out beta invites for some time, and the beta proper is expected to start on March 31, 2015.
