The fifth beta update for Sorcerer King, a title now available on Steam Early Access, has been released. The game’s latest beta update is available today allowing players to recruit Remnant Champions to their cause, and contains an overhaul of the game’s quest system with new rewards and a bunch of other things. There’s also all new gameplay and graphics of the game’s many monstrous units and enemies.
Wondering what Remnant Champions are? They’re basically the heroes and fighters remaining to the Sorcerer King’s dominion over the world. They can join you, but you’ll have to acquire them at a cost—you’ll have to complete unique quests to enlist their help.
Improvements to the quest system come with a new reward structure, more often granting weapons and armor as well as intangibles like courage, loyalty, and ruthlessness that the game's "dungeon master" AI uses to generate events.
The update comes with a host of other minor improvements, including a reworked main menu to the end-game stats screen. The only thing remaining to be added to Sorcerer King is its story-based campaign.
The game is set for release later this year and is currently available on Steam as an Early Access title.
