Mobile hardware manufacturer HTC claims to have misspoke when it discussed bringing the Half-Life series to the Valve-collaborated VR headset Vive.
HTC chairwoman Cher Wang apologized over the comments she made yesterday about the possibility of bringing the series to the Vive, the VR headset it's manufacturing together with Valve Software, makers of Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 and Portal. Her comments lead many to believe that Half-Life 3, the long-awaited sequel to the series, was planned for the Vive.
“Regarding my BBC interview with Dave Lee yesterday, I would like to apologise for any confusion caused when I referred to individual games titles,” she said in a statement.
“In response to a question on specific games, I misspoke when I referred to our working together with Valve on a particular game, when instead I meant our collaboration with Valve on developing next-generation virtual reality experiences for gaming.
“I am very excited about the work we are doing with Valve, and look forward to bringing our HTC Vive to market later this year."
So, Half-Life 3 unconfirmed, then?
