Publisher Warner Bros. has announced Mortal Kombat X: Mobile in a press release today. The game will be a free-to-play card-battler.
The game is in development for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices and is described as the "next-evolution" of mobile fighting titles.
Mobile is being created by NetherRealm Studios, the developer of the PC and console version of Mortal Kombat X. Players who own the game on PC or console will be able to unlock exclusive content for the mobile version, and vice-versa via a WB Play Account.
"NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices,” Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, commented. “What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game.”
Mortal Kombat X will be available for PC and console on April 14th and NetherRealm is aiming for an April launch for Mobile as well. You can see the game's announcement trailer above.
