Actor Leonard Nimoy passed away a few days ago at the age of 83. He was best remembered for his role as Spock in the Star Trek series of TV shows and films (including the latest ones, where he reprised his role). He also narrated Civilization 4’s built-in encyclopedia, uttering lines and phrases that will forever be remembered by anyone who played the game.
The late actor will be honored via in-game memorials in both Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen, two upcoming and highly anticipated space games. It follows a recent pledge from Cryptic’s Star Trek Online, in which over a thousand players logged on just to pay their respects.
Elite: Dangerous plans to add the Nimoy Memorial Station into the game in its upcoming Wings update, which brings the game up to version 1.2.
Likewise, Star Citizen will be doing something similar, for players to experience and visit once the game launches in the hopefully not-too-distant future.
"I think it's safe to say that Mr. Nimoy was an inspiration to all of us on the team, both acting as Spock and because of his core, kind humanity. We will find an appropriate way to honour him,” said community manager Ben Lesnick.
