Upon its release today, players who purchased the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 discovered that the game did not support offline co-op despite being advertised as such–and it's a feature available to the console versions of the game.
Capcom has been quick to issue a statement to say that the offline co-op mode is coming to the PC version of the game when a free patch is released to add the mode into the title.
The studio did not make it clear that the PC version of the game would be omitting this feature upon release, leading to an outcry on internet forums like NeoGAF and Reddit. The game's Steam page even lists the game as having offline co-op mode, and reads as follows:
“Assistive co-op play – Players will need to switch between the two characters (Claire/Moira, Barry/Natalia) to overcome the nightmares in either single player mode with an AI partner or offline co-op.”
Capcom responded to complaints by issuing an official statement over the matter, clarifying that the mode will be added soon.
“The decision to prioritize a single local screen was made to ensure a stable user experience across a variety of different PC settings and devices. Raid mode will support online co-op shortly after launch when a free patch is available for players to download which adds this feature, but the main campaign on PC will only be available to play in single local screen,” they said.
