Kotaku claims that a new Guitar Hero game is in the works for release this year.
This upcoming Guitar Hero game is scheduled to be announced at this year’s E3, and will have a more realistic approach than previous games. This may be a push for the game to appear on eight generation platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Of course, Neversoft and RedOctane, who both worked on the franchise for Activision, have both been shelved. A source has stated that the game is being worked on by one of the company’s West Coast studios.
This news also comes merely a month after Harmonix sent out a survey to fans for the game’s primary competitor, Rock Band. It seems that both Harmonix and Activision were very interested in bringing back peripheral based rhythm games. Perhaps they were waiting out the launch of eight generation consoles before they could safely relaunch the genre again.
