Just Cause 3 will be every bit as campy as its predecessors, eshewing 'dark' and 'gritty' storytelling in favor of the lighthearted spirit of the previous games, developer Avalanche has revealed.
With over-the-top stories, voice acting ("I am Bolo Santosi") and gameplay mechanics, the Just Cause series will retain its flavor in the upcoming release.
“I think it’s lighthearted,” game director Roland Lesterlin said in an interview with GameReactor.
“From the very beginning we’re always sitting there and checking out the world and saying ‘well, if I’m playing with physics and I’ve tethered someone up to a wall and then a car next to it and the whole thing explodes,’ well it’s just silly.
“And then if you had a serious story next to it, it just wouldn’t really fit together, so our story has the same sort of humour in it. It allows us to be a little campy and fun.”
Lesterlin stated that because Just Cause 3 is so much fun to make, the love and care that its developers put in the game will show in the final release.
Just Cause 3 is slated for a Holiday 2015 release on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
