Underworld Ascendant, the spiritual successor to the Ultima Underworld series of games, has been greenlit and is nearing its Kickstarter goal of attaining $600,000 in development funds with a good margin of time left on the clock–12 days.
The project was launched on Kickstarter earlier this month, with backers offering a little over $500,000 towards the game's goal. Given how well it's trending, it looks like it's bound to succeed within the next few days.
With that in mind, the developer has also put up the game on Steam Greenlight, where it will be sold once development is complete.
The development studio, lead by Paul Neurath, worked on franchises like Thief, System Shock and Ultima Underworld. Also on the team are Thief's Chris Siegel, and Steve Pearsall, who also worked on Thief Gold.
The game is slated as a PC exclusive, at least for now.
