Rock Band Could Make a Return

February 19, 2015 by Jacob Saylor

With no Guitar Hero or Rock Band, it’s been a lonely trek for music games.

Fans of the now-defunct Rock Band series will have reason to be joyful, if a new rumor regarding the franchise turns out to be true.  Bloomberg reports that an insider has given them information that confirms the existence of a Rock Band sequel:

Rock Band, the video-game series where players jam along to recorded music, is developing a new title, the first since 2012, according to a person familiar with the plan.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band provided a lot of competition for one another, so now that the genre is wide open, it makes total sense for Harmonix to return. Rocksmith is still quietly sitting in the background, but that series seems to take on a different crowd of gamers.

Harmonix has even said in a Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' thread that the Rock Band series would probably return eventually, but none of us thought it would be this soon.
