Deep Down Now Being Developed At Much Larger Scale, Capcom Investing Deeply In Online Framework

February 19, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

It’s such an improvement that they are treating the previous build of the game like a complete dud.

Yoshinori Ono has shared his own update on the status of Deep Down.

If you may remember, Kazunori Sugiura, currently producer of Monster Hunter Frontier, has already stated in a Famitsu interview that they don’t want to release the game in its current state, because they are betting huge on it as something they’ll be supporting for 15 years.

In a new interview with 4Gamer, Yoshinori Ono has flatly denied rumors that development has stopped. They are now working on a game at a much larger scale and framework than what they have shown us so far. In fact, it’s such an improvement that they are treating the previous build of the game like a complete dud.

Ono stated that improving the game was not the only reason for the delay, however. He pointed out that it is challenging to be able to maintain an online game in the long term. With this in mind, Capcom opted to build the framework necessary to ensure that all the necessary components to keep an online game like Deep Down stable and persistent are in place.

This explanation may not have sat well with fans if it was shared in the first few months of delay, but after ensuing problems with Halo The Master Chief Collection, they are certain to ring truer with fans today.

Deep Down will be exclusive for the PlayStation 4. Are you satisfied with Ono’s statements? Are you willing to wait it out until the game is ready for release? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
