Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has revealed that the firm’s online multiplayer FPS Destiny is set to see a major content release sometime later this year. Hirshberg made his comments during last night’s investor call.
The major content release referred to by the executive is not the same as the game’s second expansion pack, House of Wolves, which is due for release in Q2 2015. Instead, the major content release will be out for the fall—presumably for players with access to both House of Wolves and The Dark Below.
Given the company’s penchant for making paid DLC it’s somewhat unlikely that the fall content expansion will be free. There’s a good chance that it could be a third expansion for Destiny.
Bungie’s first Destiny expansion, titled The Dark Below, was released last September. Further expansions beyond House of Wolves may be in the works, given the popularity of the base game as well as its first expansion.
Expect an official announcement to be made about the game’s third expansion shortly after House of Wolves is released.
Destiny is currently available on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
