League Of Legends’ DJ Sona Skin May Be The Most Musical MMO Character Ever

February 5, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

She has over three hours of audio at her disposal, and is the literal DJ for every match she’s in.

League Of Legends has topped themselves with one of the most impressive skins they have made for the game. Introducing house/dance music extraordinaire DJ Sona.

By default, Sona Buvelle is the Maven of the Strings, primarily acting as support, with a secondary role as mage. Her backstory casts her as an outsider, an adoptee who no one understands, partly because she cannot speak. She gets adopted by a Demacian named Lestara after Lestara discovers her proficiency in the etwahl. Later, Sona learns she can pluck the etwahl to slice from a distance. In game, her attacks have an area-of-effect radius.

Her DJ Sona skin raises the bar musically, not just for her character, but for the game, and possibly for most MMOs. She has over 3 hours of audio, including music, voice over, and SFX.

DJ Sona has three stances you can freely toggle between, each of which has a different sound, and correspondingly, different attacks and effects. Kinetic is about a steady, rhythmic beat, Concussive sounds more aggressive, and Ethereal chills the mood, although it doesn’t slow down the pace.

Impressively, her music builds up in every match, as she is the literal DJ throughout. This means, every kill, first blood, etc affects her music, as does switching stances and using spells. When  she uses her ultimate, her music becomes fuller and more epic, across all three stances.

Riot Games has not yet revealed how much the DJ Sona skin will cost, but you can get her music now for free by downloading it directly off her official site page.
