Petrolgyph Games have rolled out a patch to fix a performance issue in new RTS IP Grey Goo.
The issue originally popped up a few days ago, prompting Petroglyph to respond in their official forums around February 2.
This is not an issue with PC compatibility, but a bug in the game that is slowing down framerate. Petroglyph’s QA team has identified the issue, but they will need a considerable amount of time before to prepare the said patch.
They also warned fans about using any cheats, since it would of course lead to a Steam account ban.
This page claims that the patch has already rolled out, but patch notes are unavailable at the time of this writing. It does seem that a fan has tried out the patch and saw 50 % improvement, but surprisingly, framerate drops coming in after using the in-game menu.
The fans do seem in agreement that this game delivers on the promise of classic Westwood Studios gameplay from the same devs, which makes this issue unfortunate. Have you bought Grey Goo?
