Koei Tecmo's Warriors series has been around for quite a while, but though it's managed to pull down impressive numbers in Japan, its North American figures have been significantly softer. Who would have guessed that what was needed was a tie-in with Nintendo's Zelda franchise in order to attract potential fans wary of taking that first plunge?
Not only is Hyrule Warriors doing well in the US, it's performing better than every other Warriors installment in the region after the same period of time. This chart shows that Hyrule Warriors has sold 370K units across digital and retail in just four months, which is better than any other mainline Dynasty Warriors installment. As long as sales stay strong and players remain attracted to the many DLC options, there's no reason not to consider this one of Koei Tecmo's biggest unequivocal success stories. And that's despite the fact that it's a Wii U game!
Hyrule Warriors is getting a Majora's Mask DLC Pack on February 5, which will introduce Young Link and, of course, ol' Tingle there.
