The Witcher 3 Still Not Getting Visual Downgrades; Previewer Claims It Sets ‘Generational Standard’

January 29, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

CPR has had to address concerns about graphics multiple times, but now there’s reason to believe them.

CD Projekt RED has once again gone on record that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not getting any visual downgrades.

Word comes from the game’s art producer, Michal Stec in an interview. He was asked if they decided to do any downgrades on the visuals to help optimize the game. Stec made it clear that they were optimizing the game in such a way that it would have the best performance, and retain a high quality of visuals.

Stec’s full statement is below.

No. That’s the answer. We are not downgrading it. We are optimizing the game but in a way that doesn’t affect the visuals. So there is a lot of work for us, and this is also one of the reasons why we delayed the game. Because we still have to optimize it to get the best performance for you guys as possible.

Does this all sound familiar? If so, that’s because the developer has had to address this over and over again. Every time, they have been consistent about maintaining a high level of graphical quality.

On another end, this preview has glowing words for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. While the PC version will be capable of outputting to 4K, this previewer claims the game will set a new (console) generational standard.

Have you been looking up previews of the game yourself? Do you think Stec and CPR are true to their word on the game’s graphical quality? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 19, 2015.
