Sony has several big-name exclusives in their possession, and they are looking for series or movie adaptations. This sparked the creation of PlayStation Productions, a studio to help bring out adaptations. One of the big upcoming series is Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, which will air on HBO. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about the series yet as the production is still filming. However, we do know that one of the directors for this series will be Neil Druckmann.
Neil Druckmann was the writer and director behind The Last of Us video game. Now he is the co-president of Naughty Dog and is working alongside Craig Mazin on this HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. We have seen some actors cast as characters, and even some set photos emerged online. Also, just like with other television series, multiple directors are working on this project. We’re not sure just how many episodes will be directed by Neil Druckmann, but he has been listed as one of the director credits for the series.
As for the series itself, information is limited. We don’t know how far the first season will take viewers in the game narrative. Chances are we’ll see some areas of the game expanded along with new additions in general. With that said, the first episode has already been filmed, which was directed by Kantemir Balagov.
Currently, we don’t have a debut release date for the first season just yet. Instead, the first season of this series is slated to debut sometime next year, 2022. However, we’re sure that there are plenty of fans out there interested in seeing how the series turns out alongside the specific episodes directed under Neil Druckmann.
