Grey Goo Launch Trailer Released To Assimilate All Your Interest

January 19, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The next RTS from the folks behind the Command and Conquer games has an impressive story behind it.

A group of RTS veterans have resurfaced with a new game and a new name. Introducing Redux Games’ Grey Goo.

Redux’s staff is comprised of many former Westwood Studios employees. So, the people who made the Command and Conquer games are behind this, so you know the flashy trailer is supporting some solid gameplay.

The game’s name gives away the premise; grey goo is a hypothetical end of the world scenario where self replicating molecular nanobots build themselves over and over and end up overrunning the Earth, consuming all matter in the process.

In the game, you can actually play the Goo, the human faction, or an alien race, the Beta, with all three drawn inextricably together. The humans actually created the Goo, as part of a space exploring program called Pathfinder. Humanity lost contact with the Goo ages ago, and concluding that they were alone, ended war within themselves, decommissioning their weaponry in the process.

By the time the Beta, a spacefaring colony comprised of war refugees, run across the Goo, the Goo is no longer the benevolent life seeking program it was intended to be. It all comes together on Ecosystem 9, where humanity receives signals from the conflict between the Beta and the Goo, and Lucy Tak takes an expedition to investigate.

You can watch the teaser trailer that helps set the stage above, and learn more about the game here. Grey Goo will be released on January 23 on Windows.
