There is a ton of excitement building up over the upcoming Battlefield video game installment. Unlike Call of Duty, the Battlefield franchise doesn’t see a new installment annually. As a result, fans are eager to get their hands on the next mainline installment. Unfortunately, however, it’s been pushed back just a few weeks. We heard rumors suggesting that a delay announcement was coming with the game being shifted from October to late November.
That announcement came, and EA claims the culprit to blame is the worldwide pandemic. It’s not surprising to see games delayed at this point because of the pandemic. There was a significant transition period that took employees from working at the offices to their homes. This change took time, and it cost some delays for a variety of titles. Included in that mix now is Battlefield 2042, but fortunately for fans, the delay isn’t all that long. We’ve certainly seen longer delays come up from the pandemic, and with Battlefield 2042, players are only waiting a few more weeks.
Still, there is a mixed reception from the tweet delay announcement. Some fans are completely fine with the delay, while others are tired of waiting. For now, the focus might be around the upcoming beta. The beta was planned for this month, but that might have changed as well. We still don’t have any details about the beta, but that should change soon. Included in the tweet was confirmation that more information on the beta would be coming later this month.
Now it’s best to point out that the tweet doesn’t say that the beta will be happening within September still. All that’s stated is that details about the open beta will come later this month. Since this delay occurred, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear that the beta was also pushed back, but for now, we’ll have to wait for the official details to come out.
