Tomb Raider Netflix Series Casts Hayley Atwell

September 14, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

We have our Lara Croft for the upcoming Netflix series.

There’s been a significant resurgence in video game adapted series and movies. The past adaptations were often looked down upon, with fans feeling the films or series was more of a parody. However, with video games growing in popularity and winning countless awards, we’ve seen more focus on source material. For instance, we know that there’s a Halo and The Last of Us series coming out. Meanwhile, there are movies such as an Uncharted prequel.

Tomb Raider is a franchise that had been under the spotlight in the past for live-action movie adaptations. Now we’re going to see an anime series through Netflix. Netflix is also no stranger to video game adaptations. We’ve seen a recent Resident Evil series launch called Resident Evil Infinite Darkness. Likewise, there’s the Castlevania anime series as well. We knew that Tomb Raider would see an anime series launch on Netflix in the near future, but details have been scarce.

Today, we’re finding out that actress Hayley Atwell is taking on the role of Lara Croft. Hayley is lending her vocal talents to give Lara new life in this series. We haven’t seen anything new regarding the series quite yet. But it’s been noted that it will continue on the Lara Croft journey from the recent Crystal Dynamic trilogy. This showed us an inexperienced Lara Croft starting out. However, she soon turned into the famous tomb raiding heroine by the end of 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

We’re uncertain just when we’ll get our first look at the series. Since we are just finding out about the actress taking the role of Lara Croft, it could be a good while before a trailer drops. Despite that, it should be interesting to see where Lara Croft’s journey takes her after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In the meantime, to catch up on the narrative, all three video game titles from the past reboot is readily available for players to enjoy today.
