Assassin’s Creed Movie Coming 2016; This Is What We Know So Far

January 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The movie will be directed by Justin Kurzel and will star Michael Fassbender, in dual roles.

Movie studio Fox has revealed the release date for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie. We have additional details on the movie as well, culled from other sources.

Regarding the announcement, the movie will release on December 21, 2016. It will be directed by Justin Kurzel (left) and will star Michael Fassbender (right).

Based on this source, the movie will take cues from the games, but will have an original story, with its own cast of characters, and will be set in the same universe as the games is.

Much like the games, there will be two protagonists, both played by Fassbender. He will be both Michael Lynch, a death row inmate who gets drawn into the Assassin-Templar war, and Aguilar de Agarorobo, an Assassin during the Spanish Inquisition.

Lynch’s story involves being tested by a researcher named Joseph. He will also have to face with Alan Rikkan, Abstergo’s CEOs, but on his side is modern day female assassin Lara.

Aguilar, on the other hand, is facing no less than Tomas de Torquemada. Torquemada appears in Assassins’ Creed 2: Discovery, but in the Assassin’s Creed universe, he is merely a pawn himself. He looks up to Rodrigo Borgia and directs the Inquisition under Borgia’s command, unaware Borgia is using the movement to hunt down the Assassins. Whoever is facing Lara will also have a second role in the Inquisition era as another Assassin and a comrade of Aguilar’s.

How do you feel about this movie so far? Has the recent issues surrounding Assassin’s Creed Unity affected your interest in the film? What do you hope Justin Kurzel, Fassbender, and company will achieve? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
