January 2, 2015 by Stephen Daly

The game was originally announced back in 2005 for Xbox 360.

Cry On, an Xbox 360 exclusive JRPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, was announced back in 2005 for the Xbox 360 and while the game never materialised, Sakaguchi released an animated teaser for the cancelled project last week.

The game was being developed at Sakaguchi's own studio, Mistwalker Corporation, with help from Cavia, developer of Drakengard. In Cry On, players would have taken on the role of of a young girl and her tiny stone familiar, a creature called a Bogle, which has the ability to transform into a colossal giant.

Sally, the girl, and her companion were both playable and they'd need to use their various sized to overcome the game's challenges. Bogle would primarily be used in combat situations, while Sally would tackle the puzzles and explorations aspects of Cry On.

Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu was enrolled as composer for Cry On, while Drakengard 2 character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka was attached to the project as well.

Mistwalker Corportation would go on to produce Lost Odyssey, The Last Story, Blue Dragon, and Terra Battle amongst other titles, while Cavia's final game was Nier, which was released in 2010.
