We had previously reported that the Gold Saucer minigame arena from Final Fantasy VII would be appearing in a future patch for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. That particular update, which will bring the game up to version 2.5, should arrive some time between now and Spring 2015. When it does, you'll be able to play Chocobo Racing and Triple Triad in the Gold Saucer.
During a recent livestream Q&A, director Naoki Yoshida explained some details regarding the upcoming content, namely how the Gold Saucer will not charge players additional fees and will instead use Gold Saucer points that are purchased with Gil. Two of the revealed minigames ought to be familiar to longtime Final Fantasy fans: Chocobo Racing was introduced in FFVII and became a regular staple since, and Triple Triad was a card game featured heavily in FFVIII. Further details are scarce at this time, but we do know that there will be 80 Triple Triad cards at launch with more to come later.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently available for Windows, PS4, and PS3.
