Diablo 3 Upcoming Updates Revealed, Blizzard Planning To Release On Consoles and PCs Simultaneously

December 19, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Consoles and PCs are sharing some features around, but PS4 and Xbox One are still not getting Seasons.

Blizzard has shared the details of the next patch for Diablo 3, to release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

First off, PC players across Mac and Windows will get some of the Ultimate Evil Edition PS4 and Xbox One owners have been enjoying. One such feature they’re hoping to bring over is Apprentice Mode.

PS4 and Xbox One owners will get more exclusive features however, this time connected to social. In other words, you can earn rewards for your friends, or other players. Pick up a Legendary and Set item for a 25 % chance you’ll also get your friend a gift. Kill a Nemesis unique monster, and the last player killed by that Nemesis elite gets a Legendary item.

Patch 2.1.2, numbered Patch 1.0.6 for PS4, adds Ancient items. These items drop in Torment difficulty, with higher drop rates for higher difficulty.

Unfortunately, PS4 and Xbox One is not getting Seasons, and Blizzard has once again explained its down to design. The console versions were designed to work offline, and Seasons, as well as Leaderboards, were designed around online. 8th gen consoles are capable of many things, but apparently not adding a feature like this after the fact.

Reaper of Souls will also be expanded, momentarily via content patches.

Lastly, no plans for Runewords, but Blizzard is designing Legendary Gems to hopefully cover that need.

Blizzard is trying to bring the latest patch to consoles and PCs at the same time.
