Sometimes, things happen. These events can be dramatic, important, or even absurd. Alexandria, Minnesota recently saw one debacle that probably falls under the latter of these choices.
One Kotaku reader sent this newspaper clipping in, that summarizes what happened after someone broke into a gamer's house. This invader apparently changed the settings on the homehowner's Playstation 4 and left shortly after doing so.
You know what this is? It's a sign of the end times. All of those prepping TV shows that were on the Discovery Channel in 2013 may have actually been right on point. I had no idea how far the depths of human depravity stretched. Someone changed the settings on this man's Playstation 4 console, and he paid the price for it.
Let this be a warning to anyone who dares mess with another's gaming console: the consequences of such actions are highly iredeemable in this society. You'd best think twice before you go and set my background theme to Justin Bieber.
In all seriousness, we hope that this is simply a prank gone bad. You can't go breaking into peoples' homes, but it also seems a bit silly to ruin someone's life over something as small as this. Furthermore, how do you even prosecute or defend something like this? I'd love to be there for the court case, if it ever gets to that point.
A few months from now, when this has slipped our minds and the court date arrives, it'll pop back up again and give us all a quick laugh to lighten our week.
