The Xbox One has been doing extremely well as of late. The console has, for the first time, overtaken Sony's Playstation 4 in sales. While the lifetime sales of the Playstation 4 are still far ahead of the Xbox One's, the NPD numbers for last month don't lie: Microsoft is catching up.
Adding fuel to the veritable fire, Bing reported that the Xbox One was the most searched for console of 2014. Many dismissed this report because Bing is owned by Microsoft and could potentially manipulate the numbers. I'd like to think that Microsoft is a bit more honest than that, but I also understand that the world of corporate politics is a pretty ruthless one. At any rate, even if it's not true, it's a pretty benign lie.
However, a new source has come out that backs up Microsoft's claims. This source comes in the form of Google, who reports that yes: Microsoft's Xbox One is indeed the most searched for console of 2014.
We're not sure what this means for the gaming industry, especially when we take the Xbox One's enhanced sales into consideration. Could the console war be shifting favor over to the Xbox One? It'd be surprising, honestly. The Xbox One costs more than the Playstation 4 and there's no considerable difference in the two systems' game libraries at the moment.
