Atari has revealed RollerCoaster Tycoon World has now switched to a new developer: Area 52 Games.
Area 52 Games has worked on similar simulation games before, most notably Railroad Tycoon, but also Tropico, The Sims, Pirates, Age of Empires, and others.
Longtime fans of the franchise know that creator Chris Sawyer was only main developer for the1st two games, was merely consultant on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, and was not involved in any way with RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile. RollerCoaster Tycoon World was being developed by Pipeworks Software up until now, so it’s likely that Area 52 was brought over to polish and finish the game.
Atari also revealed that they are launching a new site with internal forums. If you are a longtime fan of RollerCoaster Tycoon Atari wants to hear from you, and they hope to connect directly with the fans via these new forums. You can check it out and sign on here.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World is still slated for release on PC in 2015. Does the switch in developers assure or worry you about the state of the final product? Share your thoughts with us in the comments
