Zelda Wii U Analysis: Secrets and Hidden Details

December 9, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Zelda fans unite!

If you watched The Game Awards last Friday, then you'll know that Zelda Wii U is looking gorgeous as ever. Considering the huge lack of really major titles on the Wii U, it seems perfect that Zelda is coming in to save the day. I know a number of people who will likely buy into the Nintendo console just so they can get their hands on the new Zelda title; as if the latest Smash Bros. wasn't incentive enough.

At The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley and his crew showed off a number of different games. While Keighley touted his show as having over twelve world premieres, some of the announcements seemed a little weak. Basically, it wasn't the gaming awards show this industry deserves, but it was the one it needed. The Zelda Wii U gameplay trounced all other game announcements for the evening, though. Considering Nintendo's hand was all over The Game Awards, we weren't surprised.

In the new gameplay shown by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, we were introduced to the massive open world of Zelda Wii U. This is the first time that Zelda fans will be able to traverse a fully-realized open world, filled with side quests and other tasks to engage in. While games like Ocarina of Time might have offered an open-world to explore, the real game experience came when you followed the campaign. Zelda Wii U will hopefully offer satisfactory rewards for exploring the game world.

Youtuber GameXplain has crafted a video that picks apart the gameplay shown at The Game Awards. He details a number of things that you might not have noticed watching it the first time around. One such revelation is just how enormous the game world is – you'll want to take a peek at what's in store.
