All of the Mass Effect games have been third person but what if BioWare were to add a first person option to the next game in the series?
We still know quite little about BioWare's plans for the game, but it seems likely that the developer will continue with that tradition, even so, it's interesting to speculate on what first person could mean for the series.
By switching to first person, Mass Effect 4 players would obviously be more 'in' the game but possibly at the expense of missing something. The original Mass Effect had a heavy focus on exploration, and with the return of the Mako it seems we can expect a similar emphasis in the next game.
First person would also mean players wouldn't see custom armour except for cutscenes, and if, somehow, BioWare did somehow manage to implement the first person view into cutscenes as well, it could be rather awkward (GTA5's first person sex scenes, anyone?).
Bethesda manages to pull off both first and third person reasonably well in both The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, but given the more cinematic feel of the BioWare games, it seems unlikely they'll given players the option.
The majoirty of Reddit users asked about the possibility of first person in a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster seem to say they'd stick to third, but if you had the choice in a future BioWare game, how would you play?
