Resident Evil Revelations 2 Trailer Reveals Return Of Barry Burton

December 2, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Barry is jumping into the fray after receiving Moira’s SOS.

Capcom has released the latest trailer for Resident Evil Revelations 2, and along with it, a new character reveal; Barry Burton.

Barry is Moira’s father, and a supporting character with a rich history in Resident Evil lore. Barry is a longtime friend of Chris Redfield’s and convinced him to join S.T.A.R.S., a time after he himself joined. It is also thanks to Barry’s connections that he was able to commission Joe Kendo to make modified S.T.A.R.S. weapons, including his custom Samurai Edge, that can fire .40 S&W caliber rounds.

Barry was involved in the incident in the Spencer Mansion, assigned as backup for Alpha team. However, he was actually secretly being manipulated by Albert Wesker, a spy for Umbrella Corporation. Wesker blackmailed Barry by threatening his family, including a then-very-young Moira. He lured Jill towards some traps, but would eventually take Wesker out himself when he found out Wesker was only bluffing.

Now, it’s many years later, and Barry’s daughter is an NGO volunteer for TerraSave, which happens to be under Claire’s leadership. In 2011, Moira and Claire are together when the TerraSave HQ is attacked, and the two are abducted.

As you can see in the trailer, Barry receives Moira’s SOS, and follows in her and Claire’s footsteps. For fans who have played Resident Evil Revelations, this will be a familiar scenario, and players will probably jump in and out of different characters as they explore different parts of the narrative. Whether players will get to be in Barry’s shoes, or Claire’s, or Moira’s first, we will just have to wait to find out.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an episodic release, available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows. The season will begin February 17, 2015.
