Resident Evil Revelations didn't do so well with reviewers – or gamers, for that matter. It marked a definite low point for the franchise, and Capcom is hoping to bounce back with Resident Evil Revelations 2. While initial gameplay videos haven't really been a huge font of confidence, there's still a few months between us and the game's February 17, 2015 release date.
If there is one thing that Capcom has tried to implement in Resident Evil throughout the years, it's cooperative play. While the franchise is based upon sturdy surivival horror tradition and values, many would argue that the game's natural evolution was to bring cooperative play into the mix. Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be offering players this opportunity to play with friends and share the frightful experience that is Resident Evil.
In a new gameplay video, this cooperative play is detailed perfectly. We're shown how you help another teammate up after they have fallen, as well as some of the banter between the two characters. There's also some footage that shows how you work together to conquer the game's many environments.
Check it out below:
If I'm completely honest, I'm still not sold on Revelations 2. There's just so much work and polish that still needs to be done. We're still in that weird phase following the release of the new consoles, but there's been ample time for developers to adjust. Capcom needs to take some focus away from the extravagant-looking Deep Down and put some more men and women on this project, in my humble opinion.
