Mighty Gunvolt DLC Adds Four New Stages for $2.99

November 18, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Two of the new bosses come from Mighty No. 9.

[Update: Inti Creates has updated its site to clarify that the free update will go live when the DLC is eventually released, not when Mighty Gunvolt goes on sale standalone.]

We knew that Mighty Gunvolt, the free game that was bundled with Azure Striker Gunvolt, would be unbundled and sold as a standalone download after three months. It was previously reported that it would go on sale on December 1, but Inti Creates seems to have bumped that date up to November 28, the same day that it will be separated from Azure. We also know that DLC for the retro platformer is on its way — and now Inti Creates is ready to spill the details.

There will be four new levels and bosses added in the DLC, two of which come from the upcoming Mighty No. 9. In the Factory and Highway stages, you'll be able to tangle with 8-bit versions of Mighty Nos. 1 and 7, respectively. The other two bosses are Elise from Azure, who guards the Bio Lab stage, and Mr. Happiness from Gal*Gun, who hangs out in the Gym stage. No release date for the pack has been announced, but it'll set you back a mere $2.99.

Mighty Gunvolt goes on sale on November 28 for $3.99, and a free update will hit the eShop alongside it. This update will re-balance all stage enemies, buff Gunvolt and Ekoro's abilities, and make it so that you can return to the title screen from the stage select menu by pressing B.
