Destiny Faces More Issues, Exotic Weapons Broken After Recent Patch

November 18, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Bungie Studios just can’t seem to get on the ball.

If there was a game that has had more post-launch complaints than any other this year, it'd probably look like Destiny. Though, if Assassin's Creed: Unity continues the way it is, we're not sure it'll hold this title much longer. Destiny has been out for a couple of months now, and there are still some problems that need fixing. Furthermore, there are lots ofi issues that are still popping up!

Today, another one of these unhappy events arrived on Destiny's doorstep, which affects the game's Exotic weapon system. An update recently published by Bungie Studios, who develops Destiny, has weakened a number of these powerful weapons. Presumably, Bungie was working on some code in preparation for the PvP-based Iron Banner event in game, which resulted in unexpected changes to Exotic weapons.

Bungie also set up a thread in order to get player feedback and address the issues that have begun to plague these Exotic weapons.

One player said "Icebreaker was doing less damage to Aetheon. So was Vision of Confluence. These were during Times Vengeance with full critical hits being scored. It was kinda horrible, especially since we were fighting in frame rate soup."

Another chimed in, "Bad Juju mag not refilling after kill. Thorn feels like a pop gun, almost wastes a whole mag on one enemy. Invective has extreme short range, far less than other shotguns."

While some of the more aggressive comments allude to the idea that this was intentional, we're not sure that assertion holds much value. These arguments were made on the basis that Bungie was not ready for the Iron Banner again, so they messed up the Exotic weapons beforehand to distract players from the real problem. We don't think Bungie would stoop so low, and it doesn't seem smart to trade one problem for another.

At any rate, we hope Bungie pulls it together soon. We'd like to see the Iron Banner in its working order.
