A fan has found possible evidence that current Xbox One exclusives Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 will be released on PC.
The evidence comes from Amazon France, who seems to have prematurely listed the games for the platform on their web page.
Previously, Dead Rising 3, and then Ryse: Son of Rome, were ported to PC, after previously being announced and released as Xbox One exclusives. Both of those games were developed by third parties, and ported to PC after both developers did not see the sales numbers they had expected. Both also happen to have come out as Xbox One launch titles, and both games got ported close to their one year anniversaries.
Based on these previous precedents, if PC ports are forthcoming for these games, they should not be expected to arrive until almost a year after their Xbox One releases. At this point, Microsoft will have likely made the most sales they would get of the two games.
However, there is also more than enough reason to doubt such ports are coming at all. In spite of these two games, other Xbox One exclusives, such as D4 and Killer Instinct, have remained exclusive.Project Spark, a notable exception, was itself announced multiplatform, but exclusive, on Microsoft devices from the onset.
Microsoft’s future plans for gaming on Xbox and PC remain nebulous, but if the company is planning to actually take their Xbox streaming on Windows technology and turn it into a commercial product, a convergence between the two platforms may very well be on the horizon, making the business of porting games moot.
