Microsoft has announced that Xbox One shipments have hit 10 million, and has led hardware sales in the US for the past fortnight.
On the Xbox Wire,Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox, wrote:
"As we head into the busy holiday season Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks. Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles."
Mehdi gave no update on the number of consoles actually sold to consumers. The 10 figure comes seven months after Microsoft's last update in April, when they confirmed shipments of five million to retailers.
Also unclear is exactly when "shortly" is, but presumably it will be this side of Christmas. Microsoft has been helped by a number of exclusives such as Forza Horizon 2 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Microsoft did not state how the Xbox One performed in other regions during the past two weeks.
By contrast, Sony announced at gamescom in August that they had sold 10 million PlayStation 4s to consumers.
