Just Cause 3 is Not Going to Feature Microtransactions, Will Retail at Normal Price

November 12, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Just Cause 3 will not make use of nagging microtransactions.

Just Cause 2 came out all the way back in 2010, and let's be real: this game was pretty whacky. This isn't to say that it was bad by any means, but some of the feats that your character was able to achieve were insane. Though, we don't think any of that's going to change, heading into the future release of Just Cause 3, which was actually only announced just yesterday.

After this announcement, Avalanche Studios took to their official blog in order to clear up some misconceptions that people were beginning to propagate. They addressed concerns people had about the use of microtransactions and discussed some screenshots, taken from a very old version of the title:

“Following last week’s rumours and speculation, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address a few misconceptions,” the studio wrote.

“Those leaked screenshots were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3. Like most games, this one went through an exploratory phase where we looked at different control schemes, different technologies, different business models. Those leaked screenshots show aspects of that process, and in no way reflect the game we are making today.

“To be perfectly clear: Just Cause 3 will be available in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It will be distributed as a retail box and digital download. It is not a Free To Play game. It does not feature in-game micro transactions.”

Avalanche Studios also talked about the promise of post launch downloadable content.

Look for the game on store shelves in 2015 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
