As with every new year, the Black Friday discount season creeps earlier and earlier. For those looking to pick up video games this holiday season, Target is running a promotion giving you a reason to start shopping early with their latest "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sale. There are over 1,200 games included in the sale this week, covering all major video game platforms.
From looking at past news archives, running a video game sale a few weeks before Black Friday is becoming an annual tradition of sorts for Target.
On this page, you'll see 1 of 22 pages' worth to pick through. After perusing the sale a bit, we've come up with the total count for each platform:
- Xbox One – 81 titles
- Xbox 360 – 280 titles
- PS4 – 86 titles
- PS3 – 264 titles
- PlayStation Vita – 36 titles
- PlayStation Portable – 1 title
- Nintendo 3DS – 266 titles
- Nintendo DS – 144 titles
- Nintendo Wii – 129 titles
- Nintendo Wii U – 64 titles
- PC Games – 76 titles
Nearly all recent releases are available in the sale, including titles such as Destiny and Sunset Overdrive. That said, there are plenty of notable missing titles, including Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Several other upcoming games that can carry their own weight without a promotion are also excluded from the sale (e.g. Far Cry 4).
Take note that although certain titles are excluded online, this doesn't mean that its not available in-store. While Target.com has the above select titles excluded, you can still get them in store with this promotion, provided you have a Target retail store nearby to nab your game.
In a similar fashion, Best Buy is running a "Buy 1, Get 1 50% off sale" this week on Nintendo 3DS games. Best Buy's sale is limited to only 35 titles and to the portable Nintendo platform but does include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which you won't find in the Target sale.
